During the initial recording of the song, Joshi said that he had teary eyes, and there were others present in the studio who were also seen crying as Lata Mangeshkar sang his heavy-hearted song.
Luke Chuppi won the Filmfare Best Music Director Award, and he was also considered for an Academy Award for Best Original Song nomination for India.
