About the Song

Lootera is a period romantic Hindi film of Bollywood which was released in 2013, the movie was directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. The story of the second half of the movie is inspired from a short story called The Last Leaf written by O. Henry in 1907. This is the second film by the director Motwane and the first film he directed was critically acclaimed Udaan which was released in 2010.

Lootera was set in the 1950s in the backdrop of the Zamindari Abolition Act, which was formed by the government of newly independent India. The story revolves around a con man who makes people believe that he’s a well-known archeologist, and then there is a daughter of Bengali Zamindar (land owner). Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha were the two actors who played these roles respectively. The movie was produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Anurag Kashyap, and Vikas Bhal.

Manmarizaan, one of the well-known songs in the movie, was sung by Amit Trivedi, who is a famous Indian music director, singer, film scorer, composer, and music producer. He started his career as a theater jingle producer and mixing non-film albums. He launched his career in the Bollywood music scene when he worked on the 2008 film Aamir. His compositions in the movie Dev.D, which was released in 2009, gave him much-needed recognition.

Amit during his college founded a band called Om the Fusion Band, and they used to perform lots of gigs in lots of bars and restaurants around Mumbai. The band was able to strike gold when Times Music noticed them and offered them assistance to launch their very first album.

Coming back to the movie Lootera, the movie was able to garn praise from critics left and right. One thing that everyone praised in the film was Sonakshi Sinha’s acting. For a lot of people this particular movie is a commercial flop, but according to the director nobody lost their money on the film.
