About the Song

Rob Marcello is the man who recorded the song Ready or Not. He is a Swedish musician, and he is in neoclassical metal rock and jazz/fusion guitar. He replaced the lead guitarist of the Danger Danger band in 2003. Before this, Rob used to play for Ironhorse, Obsession, Twenty 4 Seven and Marcello-Vestry. In addition to this, he was a stand-in guitarist in a 1980s band called House of Lords. Rob has been signed by Caparison Guitars, and he got sponsorship from Boss Corporation. As a result, he is featured as a guitarist for many of their pedal demonstration videos.

Read or Not is a pure neoclassical metal song, which is a subgenre of heavy metal that is influenced by classical music. A person needs to have quick fingers if they want to play any song from this genre as it is pretty fast and usually consists of very technical playing that includes both classical and speed metal music.

Neoclassical metal is generally associated with guitarists, especially the ones who are leading the band. Still, there are some other bands, especially keyboard players such as Janne Wirman, Jens Johansson, Michael Pinnella and others. This particular song uses specific movements in the music that are considered to be part of musical modernism that was developed almost a century ago, right after the end of the classical period. Deep Purple's Concerto for Group and Orchestra is one of the biggest examples of how neoclassical metal started to take shape in mainstream music. Apart from Deep Purple, other bands like Rainbow were also inspired by the neoclassical genre and tried to blend it with hard rock.

Advanced technical proficiency is required to hallmark yourself as a neoclassical metal-style guitar player. Furthermore, the growth in neoclassical metal is closely related to the shredding movement, which started in the late 1970s. The golden period of neoclassical metal was in the late 1980s.
