Run to You is a song from famous Canadian singer-songwriter Bryan Adams; the song was released in 1984, and it was the lead single from his fourth album called, Reckless; the song dives deep in shedding light on the subject of infidelity from the perspective of a man who declares to the world that he will run back to his mistress over his faithful partner who loves him a lot.
One of the critics, Ira Robbins, called this song a cheating classic, but when we look at the music video accompanying the song, things are completely different; the woman of desire is replaced with Adam’s electric guitar. This song topped the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart, and it peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100.
From its initial release, the song was present in every single compilation album of Bryan Adams, and it became certified Gold in Canada in 1985. The idea of the song came to Bryan’s mind when he started working on his next album, Reckless, after coming back to Canada from his Asia tour. He started with the recording of the song on March 27, 1984, at Little Mountain Sound, Vancouver, Canada. He continued it through the middle of the year. Finally, the mixing of the album began on September 21, 1984, in New York City under the guidance of Jim Vallance.
The writing part of the album was completed by January 10, 1983. Adam and Vallance came together to write this song, which they offered to Blue Öyster Cult, but the group rejected the song, then the duo offered the song to .38 Special, but again, it was declined. According to Adam, he did not take this song seriously, as he added pretty funny-sounding background vocals to it. He said he had heard this song lots of times before recording, but when the entire band played it, it felt like a completely new song.
