About the Song

‘Emptiness’ also known as ‘Tune Mere Jaana’ was a debut track by an Indian Singer and Composer, Gajendra Verma. This song was released in 2008 and went viral instantaneously. However, the song was initially a mystery, and the controversy behind the song made it spread like fire on social media platforms.

When this song was released in 2008, a fabricated story emerged claiming that the track was composed by an IIT student named Rohan Rathore, who supposedly had cancer. It was widely circulated that the guy wrote this song for the girl he loved, but she didn’t love him back. The story claimed that he sang this song for that girl when he was on his deathbed. This heart-wrenching narrative worked wonders for the popularity of this song, resulting in millions of views and a dedicated fanbase.

However, later, it was brought to light that Rohan Rathore was a fictional character. Gajendra Verma sang the song while his friend Ahmed Abbasee penned the lyrics.

This revelation came as a shock to fans who had emotionally connected with the backstory of the song. It painted a negative picture of Gajendra Verma, with people calling the entire Rohan Rathore theory a publicity stunt by Gajendra Verma to kickstart his music career. However, in several interviews, Gajendra denied spreading rumour, saying, “Why would I give credit for my song to someone else? My friend had written the lyrics whereas I sang it.”

However, it can’t be denied that ‘Emptiness’ is a great track to listen to and sing along to. The song has a rather beautiful melody and heartfelt lyrics, making the song very mesmerising.
