About the Song

Could You Be Loved is a song written and performed by Jamaican reggae band Bob Marley and The Wailers. The song was sung by legendary singer Bob Marley, who became the face of reggae music over time. Even today, people associate reggae music with Bob Marley, as he is considered to be the most commercially successful reggae artist of all time.

The song Could You Be Loved was released as the first single from the 12th and the band's last album called Uprising, released in 1980. Apart from this, the song was also listed in another album called Legend, released in 1984, which was the compilation of their greatest hits.

The song was written in 1979 when the band was travelling from one place to the other, and the guitarists from The Wailers were experimenting with the lyrics of the other song sung by Bob Marley. American magazine Rolling Stone has included Could You Be Loved as one the best songs of all time in their 500 list and ranked 363. In 2022, the song got an official music video released on Bob Marley's official YouTube channel.
