The lyrics for this song were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and the responsibility for composing the song was given to R.D Burman.

R.D. Burman chose Kishore Kumar as a playback singer for this song. In addition to Kishore Kumar, he also asked Manna Dey, Asha Bhosle, and Lata Mangeshkar to lend their voices to the music album of the movie, which became a massive hit, so much so that all the songs that were part of the movie were played repeatedly on radio stations in 1971.

The lead actors of the film are Om Prakash, Navin Nischol, Deven Verma, Archana, Sonia Sahni, Aruna Irani and others. The plot of the movie revolves around Bhola, played by Deven Verma, and Ajay, played by Navin Nischol. Both of these characters are jobless; one day, they come across a newspaper advertisement about a missing elderly gentleman who is the owner of a massive real estate. They found the missing old man and made him their paternal uncle. They took him to live with them so they could get some money out of him, but things didn't go as they planned.

R.D. Burman was chosen as a composer for the entire music album of the film; at that time, he was considered to be the best in the industry in terms of music director.
